Web 2.0 Awards: Hot Wiki on Widget Action

We love award ceremonies. They're like a year's worth of cliff notes wrapped up into one list. With that in mind, SEOmoz's Web 2.0 awards didn't disappoint. Featuring categories as diverse as "Philantropy" and "Mashups," SEOmoz managed to honor a fairly comprehensive list of Web 2.0's best and brightest. They summed up their strategy best in their Awards Zeitgeist:
In the spirit of Web 2.0, we tried to include both the small sites and the Internet heavy-weights. Our concern was less about a site's prominence at Technorati, PageRank or accumulation of links, but rather, on whether it truly rocked at what it did. This is why you'll find one-man-bands sitting alongside applications from Yahoo! and Google. We realized early on that we'd need some new categories this year, such as "Professional Networking" and "City Guides & Reviews." We also saw that the categories in which we lacked content from last year were not going to suffer the safe fate this time around.
We're just happy it didn't include any interpretive dance numbers....
